Roku rocks
We got one of the Roku players that allows you to watch the streaming stuff that is available on Netflix. I installed it about two weeks ago, but haven't used it much until the past couple of days. First, it was dead simple to get running. I have a nearby ethernet switch that I plugged it in to and a HDMI cable to the TV and voila. About 20 seconds of button presses and a visit to Netflix's web site and we were in business.
The kids have been watching a bunch of the Disney TV crap they have (Wizards of Waverly, iCarly, etc) and love it. I'm encouraging the Discovery channel shows and keep the queue full of Meercat Manor, Mythbusters, etc. Kelly and I have started catching up on TV series we'd hadn't paid attention to before. I like it even better than the Tivo, since there are no commercials! Tivo is cool because you can skip at 30 sec clicks, but this is even better!
Rumor has it that they are adding 10 new streaming providers before the end of the year and that they are releasing a SDK. Can't wait.
